Mahmoud (Mac) Reza Ghassemi (1952-2024)

Mahmoud (Mac) Reza Ghassemi, 72, of Somerville, Tennessee, died peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee, July 23, 2024.

Mahmoud was born in 1952 in Azarshahr, Iran, to Mohamad Hasan Ghassemi and Afkham Alsadat Vakili-Tahami, the youngest of four siblings. He immigrated to the United States and eventually studied engineering at Memphis State University before starting Ghassemi and Associates, a surveying and engineering firm in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mahmoud was preceded in death by Mohamad Hasan Ghassemi (father) and Afkham Alsadat Vakili-Tahami (mother) of Azarshahr, Iran; Manijeh Ghassemi (sister) of Tabriz, Iran; and Alireza Ghassemi (brother) of Tampa, Florida.

He is survived by Simin Ghassemi (sister) of Tehran, Iran; Zohre Sarlak-Ghassemi (spouse) of Somerville, Tennessee; Adam Hasan Ghassemi (son), Carson Adam Ghassemi (grandson) and Aiden Thomas Ghassemi (grandson) all of Germantown, Tennessee; and Natalie Sara Ghassemi (daughter) of Cordova, Tennessee. Nancy Warf Ward (ex-spouse) of Atoka, Tennessee, is the mother of his children.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation in his honor.
