We lost Dad Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
After suffering a stroke last year and a long road of complications, Papa Mac is finally able to rest.
We spent these last few weeks at his bedside telling funny stories about his unique ability to be one of the most ridiculous yet generous individuals anyone could meet.
I’m so glad that life brought Carson, Aiden and me home to Memphis so we could spend these last few years with him.
My father came to this country unable to speak English a few years before the Iranian hostage crisis. He lost jobs because of his nationality but somehow put himself through college, started businesses and built a life for our family that would not have been possible in Iran.
He always ensured I knew how much he loved and was proud of me. He showed that love to all of us, and I practice it with my boys.
Even though he left us before I hoped, he set the example of what it means to be a father and provider. I am who I am because of his sacrifices, and I will always be grateful.
He lived a full life and was greatly loved. Not too bad for an immigrant.
Mahmoud (Mac) Reza Ghassemi was 72 years old.
