Maggie's obituary
Maggie Simpson Adams died on Monday, April 1st. On the previous Friday at 5pm, she was walking with a coworker on Park street, and said she felt strange. She collapsed moments later, and was rushed to the ER. She had suffered a sudden burst aneurysm in her brain. She was rushed to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for emergency brain surgery, but the damage to her brain was too extensive. Her condition deteriorated over the weekend, and on Monday afternoon, she passed away surrounded by family and friends.
She was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
Maggie owned and ran Magpie & Thorn, a delightfully eccentric gift and unusual plant shop in Alameda, CA. She was a part-time Media Arts teacher at Encinal High School.
She loved animals, and rescued and fostered and re-homed dozens over the years. She currently had three dogs, four cats, and many chickens.
Maggie adored gardening, and was always happy working with things that grew, turning that love into her dream shop in Magpie & Thorn, where one side was a greenhouse filled with beautiful and strange verdant plant life.
Maggie loved the macabre, and collected all manner of strange items. Victorian hair jewelry, anatomical specimens, medical quackery, creepy dolls, strange books, and human skulls fill antique display cabinets in her home.
Maggie was 45 years old. She leaves behind a husband Colin, son Dash (10), daughter Dalilah (6), sisters Brook and Samantha, Mother Diane, Father Richard, and a beloved shop and community in Alameda, California.
