Magdy's obituary

Magdy was born on May 16, 1956, in Cairo, Egypt, the first child of Boulos Ibrahim Mosaad and Samiha Rizk Boktor, and the cherished first grandson on both sides of his family.

His early years were spent in Suez, where he enjoyed fishing in the Suez Canal, until the 1967 war necessitated the family's relocation to Cairo.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1979. In 1983, he received a fellowship to pursue graduate studies in the United States, leading him to the University of Kansas, where he obtained his Master of Architecture.

It was at the Newman Center that he met Angela Hoisington. His offer to assist with her undergraduate thesis initiated a connection, marked by her appreciation for his friendly demeanor and distinctive watch.

Magdy and Angela were married in Cairo on June 1, 1985. Their first daughter, Katie, was born in Cairo in 1987, and the family relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland, two months later. Their second daughter, Jackie, was born in 1990.

Magdy held immense pride in his family, Katie and Peter Karras and Jackie Williams, and his beloved granddaughters, Addie, Tibbie, and Olivia. He particularly delighted in spending time with his granddaughters.

He maintained close ties with his family in Egypt, including his brother, Medhat, sister, Maha, and numerous cousins and childhood friends. Visits to Egypt were a source of rejuvenation and deep gratitude.

Magdy enjoyed a successful career as an architect in the Washington, D.C., area. He established his own firm, The MBI Group, and in 1999, designed and built his family home.

He made a profound impact through his service on the servants and youth of many of the DC area churches and was a mentor and guide to many.

In 2012, he founded March Family Ministry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Christian premarital and marital counseling. He served more than 250 couples and traveled to various Christian churches to conduct workshops on marriage and premarital preparation.

His personal interests included playing the piano, swimming, and traveling. A particularly meaningful journey was his final trip to Greece with Medhat and Maha, retracing the steps of St. Paul.

He will be greatly missed on this earth but we rejoice in knowing that we have a new intercessor in heaven.

Written by his loving wife of nearly 40 years.
