Madonna's obituary
Madonna Virginia Vance passed on February 21, 2023 in Raleigh, NC at the age of 85.
Madonna was born on September 10, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland to Kenneth Gordon and Mary Virginia (Ingman) Eaton. Shortly after graduating from Catonsville High School, she met and married Tommy Dean Penticuff (deceased) of Kansas City, Missouri. They lived in various locations while Tom served the US Army and Madonna worked with US Immigrations. They eventually settled back in Baltimore, Maryland with their 4 children: Deborah Sue (deceased), John Anthony (Wake Forest, NC), Robin Noelle (Raleigh, NC), and Tracey Lynn (deceased).
Madonna remarried in 1977 to Dr. Arnold Leonard Vance of Baltimore, Maryland. They shared many happy years together working side by side at Arnold’s medical practice and raising their grandchildren: Michael Eaton and David Blake (deceased) until Arnold’s passing in 1997.
Madonna is survived by her children: John Anthony Penticuff and Robin Noelle Rodgers, as well as her grandchildren; Michael Eaton and Lacey Barkman Penticuff, William Grant Rodgers, Julianne Elizabeth Rodgers, and great granddaughter, Wren Evelyn Penticuff.
Madonna was more affectionately known as: Grammy, Grandma, Mom and Donna. She had an engaging personality and a witty sense of humor. She was an avid reader and an amazing cook. She had a passion for history and loved traveling with her family. Her happy place was a warm sunny day at the beach or spending time with her beloved companion, Kittycat.
Madonna will be deeply missed but through faith know that we will all be reunited. We are confident that she has been healed and fully restored; for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
