The moment I met Madis I felt a fondness for him. I sensed that he was a very kind person -

a person I could trust and feel "safe" around.  He gave credibility to the collection of unique artistic works. Maddis was my favorite shop in Charlotte. Not only was I intrigued by their creative and unique inventory, but I also sensed a deep regard for the artists they represented. '

I happened to shop at Madis a few days before they announced their decision to close the shop.  Diane whispered in my ear that if I saw anything I liked, she would honor the discount that was about to go into effect. Anything I purchased there over the years was my "favorite," but the whimsical 16" glass bird has remained my very favorite - not only do I love the piece, but it reminds me of those two very special people who felt like my friends.

I've just read about Madis' life and WOW! Now I wish I had spent time with him, just listening to  his life stories.  I see his life as a  "God story." .  What a miracle that he found freedom and lived such an abundant life.

So very glad we were able to attend, even if for just a moment. What a powerful showing of love for the wonderful Madis.
So sorry to hear of Madis's passing.  He was always a stalwart for Diane and her work with art and craft. His smile and wit will be missed by all who knew him, but will be remembered with a smile. On behalf of the CRAFT community, I send our condolences and love. Greg Worden
Our deepest condolences. All our love, Mark & Kerys. xxx
