Madalyn's obituary
Madalyn Lee (Phillips) Duffy, 81, of Otsego, MN, passed peacefully on March 28, 2022. She was surrounded by family and loved ones in her final days. While there were some tears, there were also a lot of laughs. We were all blessed with time to be part of Maddie's journey.
Maddie is survived by her life partner Dave Johnson, her children, Lynette, Janice (Steve), Raymond (Colleen) and Ramon, along with her sister Laurie (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. Affectionately called "Grandma Popcorn" Maddie's legacy lives on through 22 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in Death by her mother, Ruth Schirmers, father, Maurice Phillips Jr., sisters Ruth Marie and Maureen, brothers Maurice III and Rome.
Maddie worked at Unity Hospital in Fridley Minnesota for 33 years.
Outside of work, Maddie loved all sports and was an avid football fan, still holding out for the Vikings to get to the Super Bowl. She loved playing cards and it has been said she was quite the skilled poker player in her day. She enjoyed going to the casino to play video poker with family and friends.
Maddie and Dave went on several adventures over the years but more recently had to stay closer to home with their dog, Buddy and their cat, Kitty as Maddie required dialysis three times a week over the last few years. They continued to take day trips to the Onigum area regularly and to the cabin in Cross Lake in summer.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Sunday, May 8th at 2:00 pm
