Lynn's obituary

Our beloved, Lynn Marie Stacey, 73, of Los Gatos, CA passed away on October 4, 2024 from what we believe was a broken heart over the loss of her daughter, Adrienne Guest, last month. Lynn was born on June 13, 1951 to Kenneth and Catherine Duncan in San Francisco, CA. Lynn grew up in San Francisco, graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1969. She continued her education at California State University, San Jose, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She went on to obtain her Master’s degree from the University of La Verne. During her college years she met her soulmate, Dennis Stacey and they were married in 1975. Lynn and Dennis eventually moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains where they raised their two children, Brian and Adrienne.

Lynn spent her entire career working for San Jose Unified School District. She started as a substitute teacher in 1974, before landing her dream job as an English teacher. She later became a school counselor and principal, and proudly retired in 2013 as the Director of Special Education. While she enjoyed all aspects of her career in education, she particularly enjoyed working with middle schoolers.

She enjoyed peaceful sunsets on her deck in the Santa Cruz mountains, traveling to Mexico, Hawaii and Tahoe and spending time with her close-knit group of friends, some of whom she met in high school and college. Her friends will tell you, once you were her friend, you were her friend for life.

She leaves behind her son, Brian Stacey and wife Julie, son-in-law, Marc Guest, her beloved grandchildren, Abigail and James Stacey and Cecilia Guest, sister, Jean Dorn and brother, Alan Duncan. She was the cherished Aunt to nieces, Kim Jordan and Tracy Thompson and nephews Scott and Barry Duncan, Greg and Matt Duncan, and Joe and Matthew Fernandes. Lynn also loved being “Great” Aunt Lynn to all of their children. Lynn is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Stacey, daughter, Adrienne Guest, and brother, David Duncan.

We will celebrate Lynn and Adrienne together at a Funeral Mass on October 12, 2024 at Christ Child Catholic Church, 23230 Summit Road, Los Gatos at 10:30am with a reception immediately following in the Church Garden. Please RSVP to either Lynn or Adrienne’s Memorial Site.
