Lynn's obituary

Lynn Marie Shock, 72, of Toledo, OH, passed away on December 07, 2024 in Hospice care, surrounded by her loving friends and family.

She was born on August 26,1952 to Richard and Charlotte (Wunchel) Shock. “Little Lynn” as she became known, was full of life and brought joy to those around her. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1970 as an honor student and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. After high school, Lynn went on to build a family and had four children, Joshua, Jacob, Jamie, and Jonathan. Lynn was a fiercely dedicated mom and had an admirable work ethic, working tirelessly to provide her children with everything needed to thrive. She was a devoted hockey, gymnastics, and cheerleading mom, chauffeuring kids near and far, and never missing a chance to cheer from the stands. She exuded unconditional love, was fearless, and demanded respect, all while being the “fun” mom. As such, she was often adopted as an honorary group mom for our closest friends.

Later on, Lynn spent most of her career in medical administrative roles, ultimately retiring as Office Manager for Toledo Chiropractic in 2014. As much as she loved her career and raising her children, she found her true calling in life in becoming a “Mimi” to her beautiful grandchildren (plus many “adopted” grandchildren who loved her). Her ultimate joy in life was spoiling her grandkids with love, sweets, and endless snuggles. Her grandchildren loved spending time with her learning how to bake, playing, and including her in their school and sporting events. When she wasn’t busy with her grandkids, Lynn loved going out and having a good time with siblings, cousins, and other life-long friends. She will be fondly remembered for her caring heart, love for family, and spirited energy.

Family came first and was above all else to Lynn, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Lynn was predeceased by her father, Richard Shock and mother Charlotte “Mimi” Danielson (Wunchel). She is survived by her sons, Joshua (Kelley) Surdell, Jacob (Jamie) Surdell, and Jonathan (Kayla) Kaczmarek, all in Toledo; her daughter, Jamie (Jonathan) Arambula in Stow, OH; her sister Kathy (George) Ames in FL; and brother Ric (Deb) Shock in Lambertville, MI. Additionally, she leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and her grandchildren, Haley, Kelsey, Brooks, Graham, Ben and Raegan.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 3:30pm on January 11th, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 3:30pm at Crosspoint Community Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the loved ones who cared for Lynn in her final days and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for bringing comfort and peace during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Lynn’s memorial fund or a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
