I am so very happy that I got to meet my cousin, Lynn, when my Aunt Nina invited me to the Hanson Family Reunion. My daughter, Amari, came with me and was able to connect with Lynn a bit more because she was attending graduate school in Monterey, Lynn's home town. Lynn was a hoot! I enjoyed her sense of humor AND her sense of style! She attended Amari's graduation and her wedding, even though the high altitude sent her to the hospital for an oxygen tank! We still often remark about what a trooper she was. I pray that Robin and Mark will be comforted by all of these fond remembrances of their Mom. She will be remembered and missed.
Lynn was my niece. At the past family reunion I really enjoyed spending some time with Lynn. I hadn't seen her since time spent at the Harter ranch when we were children and later when she entered Augustana College in Sioux Falls. I was attending the No. American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls. I had to pick up a couple of credits in World History and Augustana was close by so I enrolled for one course, World History. There were 2 professors, one tough and one "easy". I got the easy one and she got the tough one, Heh. I made up for it by studying with her. We passed.

It was wonderful to see her again.

The following are comments I've received on the Highmore High School Alumni Facebook site from people who knew Lynn:

Glenda Frank Moser Lois Harter, I was only 6 when we moved from Highmore but I do remember Doris being a great friend of my sister, Jan Frank. Happy I was able to find these for you, she was a beautiful young lady.

Mary Hinkle So sorry for your loss. She was my classmate in High School! Wonderful person!

Ruth Noun So saddened to hear of Lynn’s death. She was a great friend in high school and we had great fun in 4-H together. I remember so we’ll her baking angel food cakes-so many that your freezer was full! She tried to get more height in those cakes and I’m sure she got a blue ribbon!! She was a perfectionist in whatever she did.

Cathie Weber Wang sorry for your loss! I was a classmate of Nanci's and remember Doris and you Lois! Hi to Nanci!

Shirley Klebsch My sympathy to all. I was a year older than Doris but we played basketball together and she was very talented.

Arda Oliver I was just talking about the Harter girls because I visited with Dee Lundeen at the Pavilion! She told me your sister had passed, and you have my sympathy on the great loss of a dear sister. We shared our memories of you and your family. I spent time at your place when I went with my cousins William and Danny! Love to you and your family, Arda Rae Jacobsen (Now Oliver)

I was a 9- year- old little girl when Lynn (Doris, my niece) was born. I remember my mother, her grandmother, was so happy and proud. Through the growing-up years, my mother told me stories about Doris' achievements and showed me pictures of her. I always thought she was beautiful and really smart. As adults, when I finally had a chance to spend some time with her, I have known she was one of the most caring, loving, gracious, generous persons ever.
