Lydia's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lydia "Liddy bug" Engler, who peacefully passed away on January 29, 2024, born on September 12, 2001. A bright soul known for her sweet, loving, warm, and kind personality, Lydia touched countless lives with her relaxed attitude, infectious laughter, and insightful view on life that taught us all about patience, awareness, and exploring different perspectives.
Lydia had a particular fondness for all things sweet, a trait that extended to both her choice of food and the music she listened to, particularly the band Royals. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing with American Girl and Monster High dolls, swimming, riding bikes, and having long, heart-to-heart conversations. With her favorite color being lime green, she carried the vibrant and lively nature of the color in her persona.
She leaves behind her heartbroken mother, Amber Nettles, and father, Richard Nettles. Her memory will also be cherished by her siblings: Steven Engler, Ember Nettles, Jason Hilbers, Elijah White, Zander Mackey, Selia Mackey, and Trinity Engler. The loving niece of Danette McNeil, Brandon McNeil, Donald Engler Jr., Ashley Engler, and Linda Boney, she cherished and embraced the unique bond she shared with each of them. Her wealth of cousins: Logan Castilleja, Victor Castilleja, Anthony Lynch, Cory Nettles, Tyler Lunch Nettles, Angel Ramos, and Cory Dukes and Jason Hilbres will hold her dear in their hearts. Her maternal grandparents, Donald Engler Sr. and Suzanne Roberts, mourn her untimely departure.
Lydia was predeceased by her uncle Scott Nettles, aunt Kathy King, uncle David Engler, grandparents Betty Davis, Vern Davis, Carolyn Miller, Herschel Nettles, and Linda Bethune. Their memories acted as a guiding light for Lydia and will continue to do so for her loved ones.
As we remember the joy Lydia brought into our lives, we're also reminded to cherish the connections we have with each other. Lydia's spirit will continue to live on in all the lives she touched and the lessons she taught will continue to guide us. Her memory will forever be a part of who we are.
