Luz Esperanza Osorio, 70, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2026. She was born on January 4, 1956, in Manizales, Colombia, and grew up in Bogotá, where she built the foundation of a life defined by compassion, dedication, and faith.

Luz graduated as a medical doctor from La Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1982. She went on to complete her specialty training in Anesthesiology in 1988, dedicating her early career to caring for patients with skill and empathy. She practiced as an anesthesiologist in Girardot and later in Bogotá until 2001.

In 1997, she welcomed her greatest joy, her daughter, Lizeth. In 2001, she made the courageous decision to immigrate to Houston, Texas, to provide her daughter with greater opportunities and bravely begin a new chapter. Continuing her lifelong commitment to serving others, she became a school teacher and lovingly guided her students until her retirement from Jessup Elementary in 2021.

Luz found deep joy in life’s simple blessings — gardening, cooking, and spending precious time with her daughter and granddaughters. Her strong faith was the cornerstone of her life and a source of strength for everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lizeth Garcia; her two cherished granddaughters; two sisters and five brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A Funeral service will be held on February 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.

Luz will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, unwavering faith, and the immense love she shared with her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

Luz Esperanza Osorio, de 70 años, de Houston, Texas, falleció el 12 de febrero de 2026. Nació el 4 de enero de 1956 en Manizales, Colombia, y creció en Bogotá, donde forjó las bases de una vida definida por la compasión, la dedicación y la fe.

Luz se graduó como médico cirujano de La Universidad Nacional de Colombia en 1982. Posteriormente completó su especialización en Anestesiología en 1988, dedicando los primeros años de su carrera al cuidado de sus pacientes con habilidad y empatía. Ejerció como anestesióloga en Girardot y más tarde en Bogotá hasta el año 2001.

En 1997 recibió la mayor alegría de su vida, el nacimiento de su hija, Lizeth. En 2001 tomó la valiente decisión de emigrar a Houston, Texas, para brindarle mayores oportunidades y comenzar con valentía una nueva etapa. Continuando con su compromiso de servir a los demás, se convirtió en maestra de escuela y guió con cariño a sus estudiantes hasta su jubilación de la Escuela Primaria Jessup en 2021.

Luz encontraba una profunda alegría en las bendiciones sencillas de la vida: la jardinería, la cocina y el tiempo compartido con su hija y sus nietas. Su fe firme fue la piedra angular de su vida y una fuente de fortaleza para todos los que la conocieron.

Le sobreviven su amada hija, Lizeth Garcia; sus dos queridas nietas; dos hermanas y cinco hermanos. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres y dos hermanos.

El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el 27 de febrero de 2026 a las 10:30 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Clare of Assisi.

Luz será recordada por su bondad, resiliencia, fe inquebrantable y el inmenso amor que compartió con su familia y su comunidad. Su legado vive en las muchas vidas que tocó.
