Background

My mother had to go to the hospital on 10/9 due to a calcium and magnesium deficiency, she was place in ICU for 3 days, and the was able to go to a regular room for the remainder of her stay, I pick my mother up on 10/16 and she was so happy to finally come home, due to having a autistic brother she loves and cares for very much, he is the light of her life, we all are, but he is her baby. When she got home we thought she was over the bump finally, mom was back strong and back to herself finally after this scare, but on 10/17 13 hours after her release the nightmare began, at 8:30am when she had to be woken to give her meds, my mother was barely responsive and her blood 02 was only 84 with 2 liters of oxygen on and she had a fever of 102.8 , It was immediately turn up to 5 and it took her up to 96% she was then rush back to the hospital by my older brother, being that it was only 5 min away, in those 5 min. she dropped back to 86%. While he was in route to the hospital I was calling the discharging Dr. who released her the night previous, he said stay by my phone, he would call me back. Well after about 2 long hours my phone rang and it was him, he said I’m so sorry but your mom has contracted covid, my heart dropped I knew with all her underlying problems and her having a very weak immune system, this was going to be a battle, so I immediately began to pray. He then called me back again and said after completing his investigation my mother contracted the virus while being on the 5th floor, because the lady she shared her room with was readmitted the day prior and her visitor is the one who was infected, and now my mom is infected due to his negligence at this point. With all her underlying illnesses she should have never been place or paired with anyone. To make along story short it was the delta variant my mom contacted and she had to be given a lot of oxygen then it came to a point where the ventilator had to be place on my mom so she could give her lungs a break, but with my my moms lung issues the ventilator just made it worse, her lungs lasted as long as they could and in 11/24?she passed away, not only did I lose my best friend, I’m now raising my autistic little brother who I promised it would would be me and him against the world. Please help us lay our mother to rest. . Contribute   Right arrow
