LuGina's obituary
LuGina Stephens; Age 65
LuGina Rae Stephens of Otis Orchards, WA departed this earth Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at age 65. She passed at The Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur D’ Alene, ID where she was kept comfortable in the last hours of her life.
She was born February 22, 1958 to Wilfred and Cherry Maxine Leitch in Yakima, WA and stayed in Yakima during her childhood. As a school girl, she did well in her academics and enjoyed drill team and lettered in track, and softball. In high school, she received athletic awards in softball for “Diving Catches” and “Most Hustle” and later went on to play for state competitions where her team ranked in the top 3, statewide.
Most of her adult years were spent in Spokane, WA where she raised her 3 daughters, Michal, Tiffany and Chelsey. During their childhood, she worked hard as a single, working mother to get her Associates Degree in Accounting at Spokane Falls Community College. She put it to good use working for multiple companies until she found her “place” as the bookkeeper at Sativa Sisters in Spokane Valley where her coworkers were more like family to her. She spent her last 10 years in Otis Orchards Washington where she lived a quiet, peaceful life.
She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. In her days of health, you could often find her with some of her long-time friends, singing karaoke and being the life of the party. Her voice was a true talent that she discovered toward mid life and is one of the things we will never forget about her. She loved country music and Shania Twain was one of her favorite artists. Never will we hear “Let’s go girls!”, and not think of her😊
Gina adored her grandbabies, Joshua, Evan and the newest addition, baby Calum. She loved Christmas and the joy of giving gifts. She enjoyed eating out and being with friends, True Crime documentaries, acrylic painting, being by the water, all things leopard print and of course her “Kitty Babies”. She will be very dearly missed by her spoiled and sassy black cat, Malibu.
Fun and laughs were had by the many who called Gina their friend. Her positive outlook and sense of humor shined until the very end of her life. She battled cancer on and off for 13 years, but she held her head high through it all and kept a joyful attitude. Her life had many challenges, but she managed to get through it all with laughter and perseverance. She was a fighter. She was strong. She was loved by many.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Cherry Maxine Leitch and by her sister Marilyn Gay Roberts. She is survived by her daughters Michal Bossard, Tiffany Johnson and Chelsey Becker and her three grandsons Joshua and Evan Johnson and Calum Spies. They will miss her greatly.
