Luella's obituary
Luella Francis Fenrich (née Rafferty) left to be with Jesus on October 23, 2025 at the age of 87. Her transition was owing to stroke and complications from diabetes, was brief, and was without undue suffering.
Her last residence was in Middleburg, Florida, where she had stayed since the Pandemic. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 29, 1938. For most of her life, her home was Western Michigan. Luella was a student of Saugatuck High School. She has been preceded to Heaven by her husband, Frances H. "Frank" Fenrich, who has been waiting for her since 1979. Luella was a member of the Red Hats, and in her later years was a deaconess in the Presbyterian Church in Ludington, Michigan. Those who know her the best will recall with fondness her quick manner for making friends, and for the way she had often made these friends her family. She was very fond of animals; her most happiest moments were in her Lord's creation. Taking an example from the Creator she served, she was a creator herself, an artist of various styles and media, mostly on natural subjects - animals and landscapes. Her nature, and her professional advocation, was that of a companion. For decades she served as a live-in companion assisting the vulnerably elderly - her heart and her utmost efforts were with these persons. She was a tough woman - the kind of toughness that withstands far more than emotes - her life necessitated this. She raised her children and the eldest of her grandchildren to be honest and forthright. She has many surviving relations who will no doubt remember with warm affection the example of her selfless character.
In her final years, she was an Alzheimer's Disease patient. Her obituarist leaves no specifically preferred forum or method to make a gift in memorial. If one is so moved, a donation to a worthy organization whose foundation is Alzheimer's care or research is recommended as especially fitting and worthwhile; it is surprisingly a most communicable disease from which no person coming in contact is immune.

- Amelia Earhart
