Hello, my name is Kelly Gaskill, and with the heaviest heart imaginable, I am sharing my family’s story after the tragic loss of my precious grandson, Lucas.
Lucas’s life was taken from us in a terrible act of violence on Sunday, leaving a hole in our family that can never be filled. He was almost 4 weeks old—innocent, joyful, and full of curiosity about the world. Lucas had a bright smile and a gentle spirit that brought light to everyone around him. He loved looking around and learning, especially when surrounded by his loved ones, and his smile could warm you even the coldest days.
Our family is devastated and still reeling from this unimaginable tragedy. There are no words to express the pain of losing a child, especially to violence. We are doing everything we can to support one another and begin the long and difficult process of healing, but we’re now faced with urgent and unexpected costs—including funeral expenses and the need for counseling and support services for everyone affected by this horrific event.
We are asking for your support, no matter how small, to help us honor Lucas’s memory and give him the goodbye he deserves. Funds raised will go directly toward any extra cremation costs (as Ellers is prividing their services free), memorial arrangements, and ongoing support for the family—especially for those most closely impacted by this tragedy. His mother, Myah Pierson.
