via Fred Brems: "classic how she rested on the top of the couch in Falls Church and watched the world go by - - she loved people-watching."

"- - the look on her face when she got caught with the remnants of a full pound of deli turkey dropping from her mouth when I opened the car door. My mistake to leave her in there with the groceries while I ducked into another store.
- - her howl that I could hear out in the parking lot of the Marriott when she saw me pull up in the car after a trip to the doctor's office. She probably was at the window looking for me the entire time I was away. She truly helped to nurse me back to health for the three months we were there.
- - hilarious when she ate an entire cheese ball we had set out for guests in Zambia - - her body looked like a bean bag!
- - smart the way she instinctively ducked into the shade of a small bush when birds thought she was getting too close to their nest - - she looked up and barked, but knew they were a threat.
- - we were going for a walk and all of a sudden she pulled up with a limp and looked up at me for help. She let me look in her paw where I found a pebble stuck between her toes. We continued our walk."

From Lua's grandparents, written by Lua's grandmother (my mother), Susan Brems:
I have more than one favorite memory of sweet Lua. One is the the first time I saw her. I had gone with Romey to pick Lua up from a kennel on Collington Island, near Nags Head. When she came out of her kennel compartment, she ran around the room relentlessly, sniffing everything in the room. She was so full of energy!
A second memory of Lua is when we were about to depart Zambia for good. Her carrier was out on the courtyard patio. Lua positioned herself in front of it and stayed there, signaling that we could not leave Zambia without her! We certainly didn’t.
A third is a time when we picked Romey up at the Lusaka airport. She was coming to live with us, and Lua had not seen Romey for a long time. Her excited reaction in the car when she realized it was Romey who was approaching was fabulous! Both Lua and Romey were so happy to see each other!
I am attaching some photos of Lua. One is from another Romey/Lua reunion, when we brought Lua back from Zambia and Romey came to Tia Ana’s house to pick her up.
We miss Lua very much. She was such a treasure!
