LT Juan Pablo's obituary
LT Juan Pablo Garcia Castro 37, died unexpectedly on his birthday June 8, 2025, from injuries sustained days before in a motorcycle accident. All his family, friends and his Navy shipmates are deeply shocked and saddened for this premature departure.
Juan Pablo was born in Lima, Peru on June 8, 1988, to Juan and Carolina Garcia. He moved to the US at age 8 attending Horizon High School, Northern Arizona University and graduating from the Naval Post Graduate School. He had a deep passion for learning, obtaining knowledge in multiple areas and was a strong believer in higher education.
After marrying his wife Nora Garcia, he joined the US Navy and forged a career from a deck seaman to a Lieutenant Officer in Surface Warfare. Juan Pablo loved his Navy life, traveling the world, meeting and inspiring so many people along the way. Juan Pablo and Nora were blessed with two beautiful daughters Scarlet and Mariana Garcia.
Juan Pablo was a devoted, hardworking and loyal father, husband, son, brother, friend and shipmate. He had inmense pride of his Navy service, he loved his family and friends fiercely. Additionally, he enjoyed computer and board gaming, playing cards, listening to all kind of music, watching movies, eating sushi, was an excellent bartender at special occasions, playing different musical instruments and playing/watching soccer games. He also loved motorcycles and racing cars.
Juan Pablo is survived by his wife Nora Garcia, their two daughters Scarlet and Mariana, his parents Juan and Carolina Garcia, his brother David and his wife Jacky, all of Nora's family, his childhood friends, along with his Navy shipmates and numerous adult friends.
A mass service will take place on June 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
