Louise's obituary

Louise Ann Rhodes passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, and by the many lives shaped by her strength, faith, and unwavering kindness.

Everything about Louise—from how she moved through life to how she treated others—was rooted in her devotion to Jehovah God. Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in August 1952, she remained a loyal servant for more than 70 years. She loved the meetings, found joy in spiritual conversations, and had a unique gift for making others feel seen, valued, and remembered.

Earlier in life, Louise worked as a legal secretary, in an era when precision and intellect were essential. She brought those same skills to her personal study of the Scriptures, cultivating a quiet but powerful grasp of spiritual matters. Her wisdom was matched by deep humility—she never spoke in absolutes, and her gentle way of teaching made people want to listen.

She met her husband, Robert, on a blind date arranged by friends. Their shared faith formed the foundation of a life built on love and service. Louise is predeceased by Robert; her sisters, Dolores and Shirley; her stepdaughter Kathy; and her parents, Margaret and Vincent.

She is survived by her children, Douglas, Brian, and Nina; her stepdaughter, Gail; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, both biological and step; and her granddaughter Shannon, for whom she played a pivotal, maternal role.

In her later years, Louise was cared for with extraordinary love and devotion by her daughter Nina and by Helene, who stood beside her every step of the way. Their steadfast support, deep affection, and daily presence were a constant source of comfort, strength, and companionship to Louise throughout her final years.

Louise had an eye for beauty and elegance. She loved Victorian fashion, elegant hats, thoughtful gifts, and creating a home full of charm and comfort. She will be remembered for her style, her warmth, and the deep kindness that defined her life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 9 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1115 Whitty Road, Toms River, New Jersey. All who knew and loved Louise are welcome to attend.
