Obituary for Louise Johnston (formerly St.Louis):
Louise Johnston (formerly St.Louis) passed away March 22, 2025. She was born Louise Maxine Stokes in 1926. She died of natural causes at 98 years old. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond St.Louis, Sr., and her second husband, Mark Johnston. She is survived by her four children, Raymond St.Louis, Jr. (Debra), Kathleen DeRoche (Jim), Janice Garvey (Mike), and John St.Louis (Eve). She loved 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Louise was raised in Elmhurst, Illinois, and graduated from York High School. She and her husband, Ray, built a home in Lombard, Illinois, where they were members at Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard. Louise was active in many church activities, including teaching Sunday School, and she was a leader in Girl Scouts. She received a gold watch from GTE Communications Systems when she retired.
Louise moved to Elgin, Illinois, when her second husband, Mark, passed away. She joined the community of believers at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Streamwood, Illinois, where she continued to practice her faith. Throughout her devotions, she accomplished reading the entire Bible.
Louise was known for her kindness, dedication to family, compassion for animals, and enjoyment for fishing. She enjoyed writing about her early childhood memories, and has a published essay in a local Journal of Literature and Art called “Emerging Voices - 2015”.
At 87 years old, she moved to Surprise, Arizona; and after 11 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep under the care of Hospice of the Valley.
