Louis's obituary

Louis Benjamin Waggoner, affectionately known as "LB," completed his heroic battle with cancer on Monday, September 22, 2025, in his hometown of Vernon, Texas. Surrounded by his loving family, LB faced his journey with courage and grace.

Born in Vernon on April 14, 1946, to Houston Jack Waggoner and Willie B. Bride Waggoner, both now at rest, Louis made Vernon the center of his life. In 1968, he married his beloved Wanda Finley, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned fifty-seven years. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories.

Louis dedicated most of his career to construction, a craft he excelled at and enjoyed especially when teaming up with his son, Louis. His passion for building was matched only by his love of cooking for family and friends. LB's joyful spirit and warm personality lit up every room; to meet him was to love him. Though always ready with a smile or a kind word, he carried a quiet, gentle strength that comforted everyone around him.

Louis leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Waggoner of Vernon; daughter, Tira Lewis of Vernon; son, Louis (Shandra) Waggoner of Ovilla, TX; son, Colby White of Gainesville; son, Rodney White (Kenyana) of Vernon; twenty grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and countless extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched.

The Waggoner family extends their deepest gratitude to the Wilbarger Street Church of Christ and to everyone who volunteered their time and services to honor Louis Benjamin Waggoner.

Louis’ ashes will be kept with his family in a beautiful urn, a cherished and enduring reminder of his life, love, and legacy.

2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV):

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
