Louis's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Louis S. Spina, a beloved father, dedicated philanthropist, and avid sports enthusiast. Born on February 3, 1930, in South Philadelphia, he lived a fulfilling life of purpose and passion until his peaceful departure on March 14, 2025.
Louis is survived by his devoted sons, Frank M. (Carla) and Paul T. , and his loving daughter, Lynn E. Hutchison (Fred). He was predeceased by his son, Louis F. , his mother, Betty Spina, and his father Frank Spina. His void will be deeply felt, though his spirit lives on through his family.
A man of distinctive taste, Louis held a special place in his heart for Frank Sinatra's timeless classics, and Lou’s singing often filled the Spina household. As an ardent sports lover, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies and Villanova Wildcats Basketball.
Louis was most proud of his service in the United States Army 11th Airborne Division and his work as a Philadelphia Police Officer.
Louis found joy in running. He was proud to have competed in over 20 Philadelphia Annual Broad Street 10 mile Runs.
Finally, Louis was known for his generosity and commitment to helping others. He was deeply invested in the Wounded Warriors Project, a cause that resonated with his compassionate and empathetic nature. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a small donation to the Wounded Warriors Project in his honor.
Louis Spina, a man whose life was defined by love, passion, and selflessness, will be dearly missed.
