Louis, better known as ‘Lou’, was born December 6, 1931 in Astoria Queens New York. He grew up in Astoria with his parents, 2 brothers and sister in a house his paternal grandparents Luigi and Bridget (Sarro) Moffa bought after they arrived in the United States from Italy. During the Korean War, Lou joined the Air Force and Honorably served his Country. When he returned Lou met and married Joann. They were married for 62 wonderful years and remained completely in love and the best of friends. Lou pursued many successful business ventures and made a happy life for his family.
Everyone who knew Lou knew that he was always looking to build a better “mousetrap”, meaning he was always trying to revise existing designs - to make things work better. Lou invented a device for bookbinding machines of which he applied for and received a United States Patent. His inventions fascinated everyone, which included his unique golf clubs and safer baseball helmet. Lou loved golf and especially his golfing buddies, the Yankees and old black and white movies. Lou was best described by his grandchildren as Pop-Pop The man, The myth, The legend.
Lou fiercely loved and protected his family and was the best husband, Dad and Pop-Pop and will forever be missed. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Please check Joann Moffa's facebook page for additional information at; https://www.facebook.com/joan…
