Louis's obituary

Louis A Lemay, 82, of Sanford, Maine

With deep sorrow and profound respect, we announce the passing of Louis Andre Lemay, who departed this world peacefully on March 4, 2025, at his son’s home, embraced by the love of his family.

Born on October 9, 1942, in Sanford, Maine, Louis was the cherished son of Wilfred and Florence (Guillemette) Lemay.

From humble beginnings, he cultivated a life rich in hard work, devotion, and quiet wisdom.

A man of unwavering integrity and humor, Louis dedicated himself to his craft and his community. He began his career as a skilled construction craftsman, leaving his mark on the landscape of Sanford through the many homes he built. His commitment to service extended beyond his trade—he selflessly served as a volunteer firefighter and later dedicated 24 years to CYRO Industries. Alongside these roles, he also worked for the United States Postal Service, where his diligence and steadfast nature shone until his well-earned retirement. Seeking warmth and tranquility, he later made his home in Florida, where he embraced the beauty of life’s simpler joys.

Beyond his profession, Louis was a true outdoorsman, finding solace and adventure in nature’s embrace. Hunting, fishing, boating, and camping were not merely pastimes but a way of life that connected him to the rhythm of the seasons. In the fall, he could be found deep in the woods, scouting for deer. Winters were spent on the ice, fishing in the crisp New England air. Summers brought him joy in the form of gardening, where he nurtured his land with the same patience and care that he extended to those around him.

Above all, his greatest joy was found in the presence of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—the living legacy of his love and guidance. The memories he created with them will echo through generations, carried in the laughter, traditions, and stories shared around the dinner table.

His life was a poignant reminder that while perfection is elusive, the effort to love deeply and selflessly is what matters most—even when unspoken. His spirit, kindness, and unwavering dedication will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his companion Susan Balomenos of Clearwater, Florida; his children, Bradley Lemay, Robert Lemay and his wife Kristy of Sanford, Todd Lemay and his wife Letitia of Queen Creek, Arizona, Michael Lemay and his wife Katie of Sanford, Michelle Guyette of Caribou; Two sisters, Margella Provencher of Springvale and Celine Lariviere and her husband Ralph of Biddeford; his brothers, Bernard Lemay and his wife Karen, as well as David Lemay and his wife Donna; and an impressive amount of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Lemay Family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Southern Maine for the exceptional compassion, care, and comfort they provided to Louis during this challenging time. We are especially thankful to Tina and Mike for their expertise, dedication, and unwavering commitment. Their hard work and heartfelt compassion ensured that Louis received the highest level of care, and we are deeply appreciative of all they did.
