The first time my big sister brought her new boyfriend “Edward” home to meet family, I was smitten. In the eyes of my 6 year old self, Ed was the kindest, gentlest person And as handsome as a man (he was only 17) could be. He was a hard worker and provided for his family faithfully, even as much to go far away to Africa in order to find adequate work. His big sturdy hands always had a hint of mechanic grease as proof. Not only did He work hard outside the home, he worked hard within as well. He was an amazing cook, including whipping up delish sourdough pancakes from his own starter. He and his wife were busy in the Ketchikan Baptist Church in their early years. Ed drove the church bus picking up children all around town so they could hear the Gospel. He was an incredible family man and adored his children. I’m so thankful to have known you Ed and we will all miss you so much. And as you used to say, “we will see you here, there or in the air.” May your soul rest peacefully with your Savior.
