Louis's obituary
Louis Cavalier, 89, of Van Nuys, CA passed away early Monday morning, February 14, 2022 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, CA.
He was born on October 7th, 1932 in Trenton, New Jersey. From an early age, Louis had a sense of adventure and joined the Army at the young age of 15, "to become a war hero" as he liked to say. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Following his service in the military, he moved from New Jersey to southern California to pursue his dream of being an actor. He fulfilled those aspirations and appeared in such television series as The Twilight Zone (1963), Mr. Lucky (1960), Peter Gunn (1959), The Untouchables (1959), Miami Undercover (1961), Kraft Suspense Theatre (1964-65), Mr. Terrific (1967), and Gilligan's Island (1965-67).
He appeared in several films as well, including The Crooked Circle (1957), High School Confidential (1958), Monster on Campus (1958), Looking for Love (1964), A Global Affair (1964), Johnny Cool (1963), King Rat (1965), The Carpetbaggers (1964), and The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965). He made numerous friendships and lifelong memories from his time as an actor. He was a "one in a million shot" to get into the movie business as he used to say, an inspiration to always go for your dreams.
He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and was a car salesman for many years after his acting days.
He was fun-loving, charismatic, loved life, and wanted more than anything for everyone to be happy, to enjoy themselves, and have a good time. He was the kind of guy that could light up an entire room.
A true entertainer, Louis was in his element when telling stories, and always had a good one ready for any occasion. Captivating, and with a voice that projected, he could grab your attention and leave you with a big smile on your face.
The ocean was one of his favorite places, and he thoroughly enjoyed any opportunity to take a stroll on the Santa Monica boardwalk, and soak it all in - the fresh ocean breeze, the people, the waves coming into shore, and the beautiful sunsets, and then to eat at his favorite restaurant on the pier. The more family that could come, the merrier, as he truly enjoyed nothing more than to spend a day with his family at the beach. That was living the "high life" as he would say.
Generous and big-hearted, he always wanted to ensure that everyone else was taken care of. With his happy-go-lucky outlook on life, he made a lasting mark on all of those who had the pleasure to meet him and always made the most of life, living in the moment.
A loving father and grand-father, "Tony Steel" was always there for his girls, and did the best he could to make sure they enjoyed life to the fullest. He was full of love, joy, and happiness. He is very much loved and will be missed by many!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Raffie Lettera Cavalier; his sisters, Ann Martucci, Tessie Spera, Santa Tulli, and Ida Mengoni; and his brothers, Fred Cavalier and Michael Cavalier.
Mr. Cavalier is survived by his daughters, Lana Minnehan and Lynn Dimente and her husband Skip; his grandchildren, Carissa Dimente, Theresa Cohn, and her husband Mike Cohn, and Lorraina Minnehan; sister-in-law Madge Cavalier, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
