Lorna's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Lorna Roeser, who died peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born on December 9, 1960, to the late Georgia Johanna Martha Jauss and Gerhard Frederick Roeser, Lorna lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, and deep, enduring love.
Lorna had a warmth that drew people in—her generous spirit, quick wit, and easy smile made every room brighter. She had a gift for making others feel at home, whether they were lifelong friends or someone she had just met. She especially loved cooking with her niece Lena, sharing stories and laughter as they prepared meals together.
Lorna found peace in nature and had a special fondness for the mountains. Harpers Ferry was one of her favorite places—somewhere she could breathe deeply, take in the beauty around her, and feel grounded.
She was a proud graduate of Glen Burnie High School, Class of ’79, where she built friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Lorna is survived by her devoted son, Derrick Norfolk, his wife, Angie, and step daughters Chasidy Dodson and Amy Norfolk. She also leaves behind her loving sisters: Sonja Roeser-Baker, Cynthia Gray, and Charlotte Buglisi and her husband Ben, as well as many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
Lorna shared a close and cherished friendship with her best friend, Phyllis. They loved camping together in West Virginia, where Lorna felt most at peace. She spent the weekend with Phyllis just before entering the hospital, a reflection of the deep bond they shared.
Above all, Lorna was immensely proud of her son, Derrick—his strength, kindness, and the man he’s become brought her endless joy.
Lorna’s absence leaves an ache that words cannot quite capture, but the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in those who knew her. She will be remembered for her compassion, her humor, her strength, and the way she made people feel truly seen and cared for.
