Lorna's obituary
Lorna
Lorna Berger, 68 of Spencer and Centerville, MA passed away after a long and fierce battle with cancer. Lorna grew up in a small town in central MA. She graduated from Leicester high school and went on to earn a degree in both psychology and art. As a young woman, she met her husband, Carl, in a serendipitous twist of fate. His blind date did not show at a local establishment and they struck up a conversation. The rest is history. Together, they shared almost 50 years of marriage. Both Lorna and Carl shared many adventures together camping, boating, riding motorcycles, enjoying family vacations in Florida on Cape Cod and eventually residing on the Cape for many years. Sharing a mutual vision , Lorna and Carl opened Great Island Tattoo, “The Cape’s First and Finest” tattoo studio. Lorna’s artwork can be seen on the skin of local Cape Codders and tourists all over the world. Lorna took pride in teaching interns the art of tattooing. She was especially proud of helping young women learn the trade and believed that women could do anything that men could do. Lorna’s pride and joy were her grandchildren whom she made the central focus of every holiday and family celebration. Lorna leaves behind her husband, Carl Berger Jr.; her daughter, Shannon Sullivan, son in law Adam; her son Carl Berger III, his partner Merri and her three grandchildren: Isabella Berger, Riley, and Harper Sullivan. She also leaves behind her 3 kitties. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends and remembered for her fiercely independent, (sometimes stubborn) nature, work ethic, love for animals, books, art, and her unwavering devotion to her family. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Lorna’s honor to further genetic cancer research in the name of the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) https:/www.cancerresearch.org
