Lori's obituary
Lori Regina Epidendio, age 64 of Dayton, Nevada unexpectedly passed away on March 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Lori was born the last of six children on July 30, 1959, in San Francisco to Ruth Frances (Latham) Epidendio and Kevin Valente Epidendio, who both preceded her in death. She lived in San Bruno, California, for most of her life, relocating to Nevada in 2020 to be closer to her three sisters.
As she was the youngest/littlest of the family, she earned the nickname “Lit”. Lit was adored by her older siblings, Judy Etchamendy, Peggy Epidendio-Hill, Kevin “Rock” Epidendio, Marti Epidendio Cote and Steve Epidendio. Lit also had a great love for her in-laws, especially Diane Epidendio and Sonja Epidendio and her roommate of over 20 years, Jan Dore.
She was the “favorite” auntie to several nieces and nephews and was known for giving back rubs, playing tricks, cooking lessons and sharing her bright pink lipstick.
She started working when she was 12, delivering the SF Examiner afternoon paper. Lori was a retail clerk in California for 40+ years and grocery customers would wait in her long lines, so they could have a chat with her, even if there was a shorter check-out line. She was very knowledgeable about everything in food and wine, and she loved her customers like family. She learned to say “please” and “thank you” in about 20 languages, which endeared her to them.
She also had a distinct love for animals and would pet-sit for many of her friends and grocery customers
Lit was proud that she had traveled extensively, making it to 6 of the 7 continents. She was very generous, sometimes to a fault, but would give her last dime if it was needed.
She is survived by her five siblings, several nieces and nephews, a ton of cousins and a large group of lifelong friends who will all miss her cooking, singing, joking and sarcastic wit!
Love you more, Lit!
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 11 am-4pm at the SSF Elks Lodge, 920 Stonegate Drive, South San Francisco, CA
