Lorene McAbee Terry passed away quietly on January 30, 2025. She was 96. Born April 3, 1928, she was the eighth of ten children born to Jesse and Dora Williamson McAbee of Rector, AR. The family raised cotton. Lorene attended Marmaduke, AR public schools. She was the Captain of the Girls Basketball Team and the Girls Boxing Team. In 1948 the family left farming and relocated to California. Lorene settled in Berkeley, working as an accounting clerk for the California Farm Supply Co. There she met and later married her husband of 49 years, John F. (Jack) Terry. They had two children. She was a devoted, attentive and loving mother. In 1969 the family relocated to a cattle farm near Garfield, AR. Jack maintained a bookkeeping office in Rogers while Lorene ran the farm raising registered Black Angus cattle, hogs, horses, sheep, guineas, ducks, chickens, hay, and a vast vegetable garden. She also opened and operated a meat processing facility there on the farm producing custom beef and pork. She served on the Benton Co. Farm Bureau Board of Directors. She was an accomplished cook and won the Tyson Arkansas State Chicken Cookin’ Contest several years in a row. Moving from the farm to Bella Vista, AR in 1984, Lorene helped Jack with his bookkeeping and income tax business. She and Jack traveled extensively around the world. Jack passed away in 2002. Lorene soon met and later married Joe C. Beggs of Bella Vista. Joe passed away in 2012. Lorene was a Master Gardener and won numerous “Yard of the Year” awards. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Brightwater Club, the California Club and a 4-H Advisor. She was an accomplished dancer, water skier, equestrian and a devout Christian. Lorene is survived by a son, John B Terry II of Bella Vista, a daughter, Wanda J Carlin of Springdale, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will held at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista, AR, 72715, Friday, February 7, 2025, 2:00PM.
