Lorelei's obituary

Lorelei Ann Anderson, 92, the beloved matriarch of the Anderson family, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  She was born on November 17, 1932, in Watertown, South Dakota to Gordon and Mildred Ryder. The family moved to Washington State in the spring of 1933, eventually settling in Bremerton. She met a young sailor, Theodore "Ted" Anderson while still in High School and they were married in the Navy Chapel in Bremerton on August 20th 1950.  Navy life brought new experiences, moving the family to several different states along the west coast and Hawaii.  After Ted's retirement from the service in 1968, they and their four children moved to Washington State, residing near Burien.  Lorelei led an active lifestyle,  which included dancing, skiing, and bowling. The family also enjoyed camping. Ocean Shores was a favorite spot to camp and dig for clams.  She  had a passion for art, especially painting,   instilling in her children and grandchildren that same passion.   Gardening was another passion of hers. She grew dahlias, roses, and lilies, just to name a few.  Lorelei's life was centered around her family and she was host to countless holiday gatherings and family reunions. She was a happy, upbeat, loving person and will forever be in our hearts.

She is survived by her three daughters, Gail  Prange (Jim), Cindy Schuckenbrock (Mel), Crystal MacHale (Kelly), her sister, Gini Magneson, brother, Tom Ryder, eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ted, her husband of 50 years, her son, Tom Anderson, and her brother, Don Ryder.

A memorial for Lorelei is being planned for May 11th.  We will notify family and friends of time and place

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating  to the Alzheimer's Association.
