Lora's obituary

Lora Lee [Higman] Houser (46) of Clarksburg, Ohio died on November 23, 2011 due to complications with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She left behind her husband, Patrick Houser; 3 children, Whitney, Mindy, and Cody; 2 brothers, Tom and Sam; and 10 nieces and nephews; Eddie, Jake, Brittany, Jacob, Yvonne, Olivia, Chris, Alisha, Kelly, and Kari. Preceding her in death were her mother, Kitty, and father, Lowell.

Lora always led a life that was centered around her family. At a young age, she helped care for her younger brothers after her mother’s passing. She cared for her father when he became ill with ALS. She was also the primary caregiver of her children, working as a stay-at-home mom.

She loved to sing her children silly songs. She made a mean meatloaf, and her favorite cookies to make were no-bakes. She believed in peace, love, and girl power! Some of her favorite bands were Metallica, Aerosmith, and Audioslave, and she loved going to concerts to rock out. She could twirl a baton and do a one-handed cartwheel as an adult! She had a special ability to be able to find four-leaf clovers wherever she looked. She knew that birthdays were something to celebrate and be grateful for, making you whatever you wanted for dinner and always a cake.

She would give her last dollar to help someone that she cared about. She kept her circle pretty small, but if she loved you, she loved you fiercely and without hesitation. She felt very deeply and was very outspoken. She believed that life was too short to spend it on people or things that she didn’t like.  One of her greatest accomplishments in life was to have suffered so much heartache and still have the courage to be kind.
