Lonnie's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lonnie Darrell Clapp also known as papaw, who departed this world peacefully on the 2nd of May, 2024. Born on the 28th of April, 1943, Lonnie lived a full and vibrant life of 81 years and has left an imprint on all who knew him.
Lonnie was a man of great character. Known for his wit, stubbornness, and loyalty, he was the type of person that one could always count on - a pillar in the community and within his family. His humor was appreciated by everyone around him, and his resilience and faithfulness were qualities that endeared him to many. Lonnie's loyalty, not just to his beliefs, but to his loved ones, was unwavering.
A proud father and beloved papaw, Lonnie's love for his family was unmatched. He was a source of strength, inspiration, and love for his children and grandchildren. Lonnie also served his country with honor and dignity. These were amongst his greatest personal accomplishments including retiring as an High Voltage Electrician from the University of Tennessee after 35 years of Service.
Lonnie’s legacy is a generation of strong men, who learned from his wisdom and were shaped by his principles. His lasting impact will be felt for years to come - in the stories shared, in the lessons learned, and in the love that will never fade. A tribute to his love for Diet Coke, a beverage that brought him small joys on any given day, will always bring a smile to the faces of those who remember him.
As we mourn Lonnie's passing, let us also celebrate his life and carry forward the virtues he so personified in our lives. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on through his family, friends and all the individuals who had the privilege to know him.
