Lola at AC reunions
I was a classmate of Lola’s in junior high and high school. Like all the boys I was stunned by her attractive appearance and star quality being very active in every way, student council, girls’ sports, leadership positions in our class year, and always the sparkliest cheerleader. Got a little better acquainted our senior year when we were both in National Honor society. However I barely knew her really.
The one very serious conversation we ever had was twenty years later, at a picnic during our 20 year Adams City High School reunion. In our “memory book” writeups we each mentioned our coming to Christ in the years since high school.
Lola came over to my little family group where I was feeding a 7 month-old and told me she was very pleased for me when she read that in the booklet, that I had become a Christian and that I wrote about it. That was very much a mutual feeling, I let her know, as I had just read her much-better expressed account of Christ changing her life.
That was the most encouraging thing for me that summer. We have all lost a dear sister.
