Lokie's obituary

Lokie “Patricia” Pruitt (Pat), 84, of Opelika, Alabama passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. Born on September 27, 1940, in Girard, Alabama, she lived a vibrant life filled with love for her family and faith in Jesus Christ.

Pat was the daughter of Johnny “Cecil” Pittman and Mary “Linnie” Pittman, who proceeded her in death. Over the years she held a variety of jobs that showcased her versatility and determination. She worked at the local skating center, served as a waitress, ran a firework stand, and even took on the demanding work of a welding shop—earning her reputation as a true jack-of-all-trades.

In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and remained active well into adulthood. Later in life, she found joy in thrift shopping—always on the hunt for hidden treasures—and had a particular fondness for vanilla ice cream and crisp cold Coca-Cola.

Pats love for animals was legendary. Her home was often filled with an eclectic mix of pets including monkeys, pigs, birds, squirrels, cats, dogs and more. Her compassion extended to all creatures great and small.

She is survived by her children: Dean Stephens (Leigh), Denise Causey (Wesley), Sabrina Spratlin (William); grandchildren: Eric, Jamie, Heather, Andrea, Jessica, Grady, Chyenne, Tyler, Ariana, Aylei, Dalton; great grandchildren: Taylor, Ryan, Cremson, Madison, Devon, Christian, Brett, Kaitlin, Carmen, Blake, Jonathan, Mackenzie, Jordan, Ava, Ayden, Levi, Rensley, Malachi, Ryker; and 8 great-great grandchildren. Her legacy continues through each generation that she helped nurture with love and guidance.

Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Yet her memory will live on through the stories shared at family gatherings—the laughter over old photos or tales of pet monkeys and flying squirrels—and through every act of kindness inspired by the example she set.

May “Mama”, “Nana”, or “Pat’s” memory bring comfort to those who knew her and may her legacy shine on through the generations she so dearly loved.
