Lois's obituary

Lois “Red” Ruth Zolecki (nee Grant), 93, of Lemont, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Lois was born on April 30, 1930 in Lemont, IL to Basil Raymond Grant and Madeline C Grant (nee Erickson). Lois married the love of her life Harry T Zolecki on June 23, 1951 in Lemont, IL. Together they raised two loving daughters Joyce and Jayne and a son Bruce Allan.

Lois took great pride in her profession of a school bus driver and transportation coordinator for Lemont Community Consolidated Grade School District # 113. She was also a life member in the Wood River VFW Post 2859 Woman’s Auxiliary and also a life member of the East Alton American Legion Post 794 woman’s auxiliary. Lois also earned her way to become the Senior Regent of the Lockport Moose Club.

Lois loved to fish on her boat “Big Red” in Minnesota and was also the biggest John Wayne fan. You could always catch her watching her Westerns.  Lois was also a HUGH Blackhawks fan and she would let everyone in the room know how good or bad they were playing. Most of all Lois loved to spend time with her family. She will be missed by all!

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, son Bruce Allan and granddaughter Nicole Zolecki.

Lois is survived by her loving daughters Joyce E. Miller (Zolecki) of Wood River, IL and Jayne E. (Arthur) Laski of Ellenton, Florida; cherished granddaughters Rebecca L. Miller, Tracy L. Rito, grandson Gregory B.N. Miller; beloved great grandchildren Mikenna “Koen” Miller, Mikayla Miller and Hannah Jo Gray; sister in laws Esther Jungles and Shirley Twardzik; A special loving thank you goes to her caregivers (who was more like family) Patti Kowalski, Lorraine Wood, and Paul and Mary Kulaga.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later day when friends and family can be all get together. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, as a tribute to Lois, please consider a donation to Bethsan Association 12927 S Monitor Ave, Palos Heights, IL 60463 C/O Tibstra House.
