My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you. I attended the Panola Congregation with Brother McCord. I enjoyed speaking with him after congregation meetings. He was always so approachable, kind, humble, and smiling. I loved when he had the Bible Reading assignment. He always did an excellent job. Know that he is loved and missed by us, too. Hold fast to precious memories. May Jehovah, “the God of all comfort”, give you comfort, strength, and peace.

I had the privilege of meeting Bro McCord at the Panola Congregation. He was a very meek and humble man. He never got upset that I kept saying Bro McCoy. He was a good bible reader. I would tell him that I could listen to him read all night. I heard that he was an avid chess player, so I asked him to teach me. He being the humble person that he was told me he knew a little about chess and gave me the name of another brother who he thought could teach me the game. To the family I say cherish the wonderful memories you have of him. May Jehovah the God of all comfort comfort you at this difficult time. We all look forward to seeing Revelation 21:3,4 being fulfilled.

Dearest brother Lloyd,
When I am near your door, I miss telling you to wake up— we need to talk. You meant so much to me in a lot of ways. You were my favorite talking partner as we were growing up. I remember we talked about our baptisms, your college work at Tuskegee and much much more.

I remember the excitement when you told me you were married. You said that your wife was charming and pretty. You were so right! When you brought Verdelle to Asheville for a visit I really enjoyed her talking with me.

Lloyd, you meant so much to me as my big brother. I’ll miss you so.

Bro. Lloyd was more than just a husband,brother, dad, granddad, and friend. From birth he took me in as his granddaughter. Him and his wife were my local grandparents as I used to say. I remember having grandparents lunch with him and mother McCord. For 23 years I saw him exemplifying what family truly meant. He made sure that when we came over to visit him even when he didn’t have much to say, the little he said stuck with you. In this picture his daughter Cheryl Jamison became Dr. Jamison. The smile I watched him carry from the time we arrived at the graduation until the very end was delightful. As we waited on commencement to start he told me, “ One day you too will be walking across the stage achieving your greatest accomplishments”!! To this day in all of my accomplishments I remember to stay humble and keep my eyes on the prize.

My father taught me how to be peaceful and to enjoy life. Sometimes he would put some Beethoven on the record player, sit in the living room, and listen with a cup of tea or something. I would join him. When I was a young kid, my father taught me how to just be in the moment. His personality to me was meek but someone who commanded respect. In fact those were his very words to me. He saw in me the same meekness when I would come home from school after someone would beat me up. He told me I should command respect not with violence but by the way I carried myself.
