Liza's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Liza "Lee” “Ma” “Nay" Brown, affectionately known as Liza, who left us peacefully on December 29, 2023. Born on October 17, 1957, in Cavite City, Philippines and would later travel to the United States with her parents and older siblings in 1961, where she became a citizen and would spend the remainder of her years in San Lorenzo, California. Liza was a pillar of strength, resilience, and love throughout her 66 years.

Liza was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Armando and Felisa Cobarrubia, her cherished son, Christopher Cruz, her dear sisters, Elma and Edna Cobarrubia, and a dear sister-in-law, Lilibeth Cobarrubia. Despite these monumental losses, Liza carried on with grace and determination that remained with her until the end.

Liza leaves behind a legacy of strength and dedication with her surviving family members. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Cruz, and treasured sons, Edward Cruz and Michael Brown. She will be profoundly missed by her life partner, Dwayne Brown.

The lights of her life, her grandson, JJ Cruz, and granddaughter, Felisa Cruz, will remember their grandmother's love and generosity. Each family member represents a piece of Liza’s enduring legacy, mirroring her strength, resilience, and capacity to love deeply.

Liza was a devoted fan of TV Shows like All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and various Filipino dramas. She had an affinity for the game Solitaire and found joy in recreational shopping. With a favorite color of gold and a love for Filipino food, Liza's personality was as vibrant as her life.

One of her most remarkable achievements was her 42 years tenure at Kaiser Permanente. In addition to this, Liza had an insatiable love for food and shopping. Her spirit, passion, and hearty laughter will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A viewing and funeral service will be held on January 25,  2024, at the Holy Angels Funeral and Cremation Center. The viewing will be at 4:00 PM, followed by the funeral service on January 26, 2024 at 9:00 AM and burial at 11:30 AM. We invite all who knew Liza to join us in celebrating her life and bidding her farewell.

In this sorrowful time, we remember Liza’s effervescent spirit. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, dear Liza.
