Lisa's obituary
Lisa Maria Swann, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the age of 67.
Lisa was born in Washington, D.C., on April 29, 1958, a child of the late Roxie and Charles Swann. In her lifetime, Lisa attended Northwood Appold United Methodist Church and received her education through the Maryland School for the Blind, the Baltimore County Public School System, and Baltimore City Community College. Before dedicating her time and energy to raising her children full-time, Lisa worked as a legal secretary for Legal Aid in the City of Baltimore.
Lisa was a brilliant, generous, hilarious, loving, and charming person. A lifelong lover of music, she adored singing, dancing, and sharing her favorite songs with others. From an early age and throughout her life, Lisa carried with her a special passion for cats and dogs, often caring for foster kittens and abandoned animals that found their way to her. Among her many skills and hobbies, Lisa loved cooking, reading, shopping, and learning about music, languages, and social causes.
As a mother, Lisa made simple moments feel fun and special. Always there to listen, she loved talking on the phone for hours and spent many years being a sounding board for her children through life’s different seasons. She was silly, resilient, and supportive – always putting others above herself. Lisa gave us so much, and our lives are better because we knew her.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon Swann, Ivy Swann, and Jackie Colbert; her brother, Ledru Swann; her grandparents, Sylvester and Alberta Gray and Clarence and Dorothy Swann; and her love and dear friend, Timothy Grady.
Gone far too soon, Lisa leaves behind her sons, Cameron Joshua Swann and Bradley Corey O’Brien, and her daughter, Fallon Aubrey Raven O’Brien. Along with them, she leaves her brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family members, dear friends, and beloved pets to honor her life and joyful spirit.
A private visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Chatman-Harris Funeral Home at The Harford, located at 5305 Harford Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21214. A public visitation will follow from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the same location.
The wake will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 12 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m., also at Chatman-Harris Funeral Home at The Harford. There will be a repast immediately following services at the same location.
