Lisa's obituary

Lisa Ivy Becksted Overton

September 25,1933-December 5, 2022.

Lisa passed peacefully December 5, 2022 at Hospice of the Valley’s Sherman Home at Mayo in Phoenix.

She was (former) wife of the late Dr. Robert J. Becksted MD. She is survived by her husband Jerome F. Overton and four children, daughters Yvette, Lisa Jr., Trina and son Brian.

Lisa was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and lived in Middleburg Hts. before building the Woodlands retreat home on 70 acres in Medina, Ohio where she lived and loved with Jerry and family for nearly 30 years.

Pebble Creek, Phoenix was to be her new home for her later years before moving to Cave Creek, AZ to live closer to family.

Lisa had a beautiful voice and sang on the radio as a young girl. She was an admin and model in her 20’s before becoming an executive of their medical clinic. She was set on getting her pilots license to fly. She went as far as her solo flight, then kissed the ground when she came back down. It was a short, yet eventful goal.

An avid entrepreneur, she started multiple businesses in her later life as a successful importer of Ecuadorian and Guatemalan sweaters.

She traveled to colleges to work with students while selling her sweaters. It brought her much joy. In her later years, she wrote her book that chronicled her life, “Celibacy’s Child.” It was meant to demonstrate that celibacy in the Catholic Church was unnecessary and caused harm.

Nonetheless, our beloved mother was innovative, fun loving and so spunky. We love you and bless your journey to heaven. We will cherish our memories of you in our hearts forever.
