Background
On October 22, 2019, our mother Linnea died unexpectedly in the home she shared with two of her granddaughters. She was a bright, strong, generous woman. We are going to miss her very much.
Our mother was a talker-she was generous in her estimation of others, even strangers, and could be counted on for her friendliness, inclusivity, and wild, wonderful stories. We admire, still, her guts and grace; her manners, her straight-talking; all her complexities and complications and difficulties and delicacy. She loved bringing people together and in her last weeks was planning a gratitude dinner-a sort of potluck-to gather all her people, to spend time together eating foods she loved to cook and eat.
As we celebrate her life in the next week-in our preparations and during the services-we plan to put together that very gratitude dinner and we're going to need your help.
Though she spoke often of her future across the years, and her plans for her own beyond, she had not yet finalized or made plans for her departure. As we grieve and come together to share in this great loss, we would welcome any help toward honoring her life in her final arrangements. In the absence of savings or life insurance, this fundraiser seeks to help cover the costs of:
- allowing her loved ones and community to see her again at a viewing and memorial service
- the cremation that will allow her remains to be shared among family living at great distances
-a venue, decorations, food, and drinks for the gratitude dinner
-travel assistance for family
We understand monetary contributions are not always possible and would welcome other help you're able to give-set up and take down for the event, food, transporting family, however you're able to pitch in. Our mother was such a giving woman and we hope to open this space for the community she loved so much, and was so well loved by, to give back to her.
