Lindsay's obituary
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lindsay Kovacevich on April 29, 2023. Born on March 13, 1951, Lindsay was an incredibly loving mother, sister, and friend. Her otherworldly, elegant, beautiful, and optimistic nature will be remembered fondly by all those who knew her.
Lindsay lived a full and vibrant life. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois and moved around many times as a child. After graduating high school in Carmel, California she lived in New Zealand for 13 years and built strong and lasting friendships there. She went to Auckland Teachers College and promptly decided not to be a teacher but instead found a career in photography. In front of or behind the camera she worked in dark rooms and printing offices. She returned to the states and met the love of her life, Glenn Kovacevich at her sister's 20 year high school reunion. She moved to Chicago to be with him and they had a robust life in the Chicagoland area where they brought up their two rambunctious children, Katy born in 1987, and Joe in 1990. Lindsay spoke of that time as part of the Glencoe community with young children as the happiest time of her life. Lindsay also took up a particular interest in photography where she showed a marked talent. Lindsay cared for and lost Glenn to Thyroid Cancer in 1997 and continued to raise her two children single-handedly. Despite these hardships, she remained an extraordinary role model for her family and friends, teaching them to show up for people in need, be gracious, be generous, and always find time for laughter and fun. She was charismatic, witty and expressed herself through her impeccable style and love of fashion. Her kind soul and generosity will never be forgotten.
Among her many accomplishments, Lindsay achieved years of sobriety, during this time she became a phenomenal painter, even serving as President for a local painting group. She was a prolific artist, leaving behind a legacy of exquisite work that captured the spirit of her unique and vibrant personality.
Lindsay loved her children more than anything in the world and was their biggest cheerleader. She made it known to them how proud she was and how much she loved them.
