Linda's obituary
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Linda Collins Zebert, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend entered her eternal home at the age of 68. Linda was born in Jackson, Mississippi on October 31, 1955, to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Leondress Collins, and was the youngest of six girls. She graduated from Rankin Academy in 1973, and then continued her education at Hinds Community College.
Linda caught the eye of her sweetheart, David Edward Zebert, and they were married on April 17, 1976. They had a strong and loving marriage for 47 years that was rooted in faith and guided by Christ. She was a dedicated and loving wife to David. Together they had two children, Sarah Kasey, born July 7, 1977 and Jeremiah Collins, born February 24, 1981. Linda was a fabulous cook and loved cooking everything from scratch, from homemade bread to pies and cakes to casseroles and Redfish Couvillion. Linda was an avid reader, poet, and writer. She was a music lover through and through, a hippy at heart, and she loved blasting her favorite rock and rolls songs. While her husband, David, worked in the United States Air Force, Linda was a homemaker who stayed home with their two children. Linda was a dedicated mother who was always doing crafts with Kasey and Jeremy, carting them around to libraries to check out books, and taking them to all their sporting events. She was a supermom who did this all while making sure they knew how “real” rock and roll music sounded by raising them on her favorites such as Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Grand Funk Railroad, Steely Dan and of course, Steven Stills. Linda was a lover of all things nature, and she was a huge animal lover. Although she loved many things, her faith was of the utmost importance in her life and she demonstrated this by standing firm in prayer, sharing the word of the Lord, and raising her family in church at First Baptist Church Florence.
After staying home with her two children for years, Linda went to work for Rankin County School District where she worked in Accounting and Pay Roll. She worked for RCSD for 20 years and retired. After retirement, one of her main focuses was on her 5 grandchildren who took center stage in her life. As she did with Kasey and Jeremy, she invested in teaching her grandchildren the word of the Lord, the things she loved and enjoyed in life, and spending time taking them to activities that they loved. However, in true Linda fashion, she also made sure her grandchildren appreciated her 70s rock and roll. At her death she was member of The Pointe Church.
She is survived by daughter, Sarah Kasey Nail; son, Jeremiah Collins Zebert; daughter-in-law Brandi Zebert; and five wonderful grandchildren, Parker Hudson Nail, Carson Elaine Nail, Ethan Tyler Zebert, Wyatt Collins Zebert, and Allan Cole Zebert.
The family welcomes all who wish to remember their beloved mother and grandmother.
