Linda Witherspoon was a life-long resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts. After a long battle with lung cancer, she died peacefully in her daughter’s home in Lexington Park, Maryland.
Linda is survived by her husband; Gregory Witherspoon, her children; Octavia Jones and her husband Marlin Jefferson, Kahlil Bell and his wife Jessica Bell and Jaylene Dias, her brothers; Bruce Joseph and wife Pamela Joseph, Ira Joseph IV, and partner Jan daSilva and her grandchildren; Aaliyana Mendes, Inaya Wilde, Nyelle Dias, Sebastian Bell, Luca Bell, Amir Pina, nephews; Bruce Joseph, and Ira Joseph V, and niece; Alicia Maldonado.
Linda was born to the late Ira Joseph III, and the late Jennie (Pontes) Rodriques, on November 30, 1953 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She worked for many years as an insurance adjuster for Trust Insurance Agency, and retired as an adjuster for Dane Shulman Associates, LLC.
Linda was a dedicated mother and grandmother, first and foremost. She treasured every moment spent with her children, and especially loved her role as “Mimi” to her six grandchildren. Linda had a magnetic personality…her light shone so bright, it automatically drew people to her. When not spending time with her loved ones, she enjoyed cruise ship vacations with her husband, Greg. She is most known for her witty sense of humor, optimistic view on life, strength, and resolve.
A Celebration of Life for Linda will be announced and held at a later date.
