Linda's obituary

My mother, Linda Lee Day (White, Meister, Bostdorff), passed away on June 19th, 2020, in Everett, Washington. She was 65 years young and lived in Lake Stevens, Washington. She passed away at Providence Hospital in Everett after two difficult years battling cancer, but I can attest that she went out like a fighter.

She was born on January 27th, 1955, in Santa Monica, California, to Harry Orr White and Gaye Leilani White.

In 1975, she had me, her only biological child, Courtney Reede Meister, with her former husband Lonald Meister. Shortly after, she divorced Lonald and married Donald Lewis Bostdorff. Donald would later adopt me, and I became Courtney Donald Bostdorff.

In 1981, Mom and Donald adopted two young girls named Maryanne and Juliette. In 1982, our family of five moved to Singapore where we lived for the next four years. Then, in 1986, we moved to Jakarta, Indonesia until late 1988, when we came back to Concord, California.

Mom divorced Donald, and in 1992, she drove with me to Wasilla, Alaska, where we lived for the next four years. While living in Wasilla, she married Jason Day. She always loved how the name Linda Lee Day rolled off her tongue, so even after she divorced Jason Day in 1997, she kept the last name.

Later that year, she moved to the North Chicagoland area, Des Plaines, Illinois, where she worked at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. She spent the next decade in the North Chicago area, and for the last eight or more years of her life, she worked for the Follett Corporation. She excelled there and earned many awards while working with the company.

Mom had so many passions. She loved singing, traveling, gardening (she really loved gardening, I think it soothed her soul), cooking, baking, fishing, watching Days of Our Lives and The Outlander, reading, cleaning, and she loved the casinos.

During our time overseas, she loved performing on stage. I remember many nights watching her do what she loved, sing, dance, and act in front of an audience. She was a wonderful singer.

My mother was a terrific woman. She could be stubborn as a mule at times, but she would then quickly replace that with tender loving care. She was a very giving soul and would do whatever she could to make sure that the ones she loved were taken care of.

I will forever miss my mother. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and weep. I love and miss you, Mom, and I hope to see you again someday so that we can give each other a big hug.
