Linda's obituary
In Loving Memory of Linda Gordon Trotter (Seaward)
January 24, 1942 – March 25, 2026
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Trotter in Oakville on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 83.
Linda was the devoted wife of Bill (Percy), and a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. While many knew her as Linda, to her grandchildren and the children of her closest friends, she was simply "Nana"—the heart of the family.
Born and raised in Toronto alongside her sister, Maureen, Linda’s life was defined by a mischievous sense of humor and a tireless work ethic. From flicking marshmallow cookies at the ceiling to the legendary (and slightly mysterious) sisters' trip to Ireland, Linda and Maureen shared a bond full of laughter and high-spirited adventures.
Linda was the person everyone could count on. Whether it was a drive to a doctor’s appointment or a spontaneous offer to help paint a house, she was always the first to jump in, full of energy and asking, "When do we start?"
Throughout her career, Linda was a fixture in many industries, working as a cashier at Dominion, a bookkeeper, and a secretary for Hutchinson Industry and LTS Sales. However, she truly found her calling when she moved north to Bala. Working at the Cranberry Marsh Cove Resort, she became a local legend—notably once giving Gord Downie some "honest" feedback on his setlist, which resulted in a hit-filled show the following night. While working at the Gravenhurst Airport, she struck up an unlikely friendship with Kurt Russell over shared cigarette breaks, a story that remained a family favourite.
Above all, Linda was a grandmother who lived for her grandkids. She was the maker of "special" cakes—unicorns, bears, and anything they could dream up. She was their playmate in every season, building sandcastles in the summer and watching them toboggan in the winter. Perhaps the children’s favorite memory was the accidental trip to a "special" water park in Huntsville—a secret they were told to keep, but one that was joyfully blurted out the second they hit the driveway.
Linda worked tirelessly to provide a beautiful life for her children, Tracey and Brent. Though she often expressed regret for never taking them to Disney, her children knew better; the sixteen summers spent on an island in Bala with their cousins and grandparents were worth a thousand trips to a theme park.
In 1991, Linda and Bill (Percy) built their home on Hesners Lake in Bala. This home became the anchor for a large, blended family, including Bill’s four sons: John, Mike, Rick, and Marty. Through Linda and Percy’s love, these two families became one, creating a legacy of shared vacations, long weekends, and holidays that brought a generation of cousins together.
Linda was a pillar of the Bala community, heavily involved with the church, the Cranberry Festival, and the Trek to Bethlehem. She will be remembered for her quick smile, her "get up and go" attitude, and her unwavering willingness to lend a hand.
She is gone from this world but will forever remain in our hearts.
Mom, you will be missed, thought of, and loved every day. We love you always. ❤️
