Linda's obituary

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

Linda Speakman was born on October 10, 1978, and passed away on February 4, 2021. Her gentle presence, unwavering kindness, and deeply compassionate heart will be forever missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Though her life was far too short, the impact of her love continues to be felt by those she held close.

Linda was a devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a quiet light in the lives of those she touched. She is survived by her two beloved children, Diana Willis (formerly known as Jessica Speakman prior to adoption) and James Speakman, as well as her brother, Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Russell Harris. Above all else, Linda’s greatest joy in life was her children. Being a mother was not simply something she did—it was who she was at her core.

Linda held immeasurable pride in both Diana and James, speaking of them with a love that radiated from her. She raised Diana with strength, tenderness, and guidance, shaping her into the compassionate and resilient woman she is today. Linda also shared a deep bond with her son James, loving him fiercely and unconditionally. She found joy in watching him grow, always wanting him to feel supported, protected, and deeply loved. Her devotion to her children was unwavering, and everything she did was rooted in wanting the best for them.

Linda found happiness in life’s simple comforts. She enjoyed a well-cooked steak, a cold iced Dr Pepper, and listening to old country music that filled her home with warmth and familiarity. She loved following the serious, captivating storylines of NCIS and cherished moments spent playing Uno—especially when those moments were shared with her daughter Diana. Time spent with her children was what she valued most, and those memories remain deeply treasured.

She was known for her love of the color blue, a shade as calming and gentle as her spirit. Linda cherished vacations at the beach, where the endless blue ocean brought her peace and reflected her favorite color. Her nurturing nature made others feel safe, accepted, and cared for, and she often became a motherly figure not only to her children, but to many who crossed her path.

One of Linda’s most meaningful teachings was, “Always forgive, but never forget.” This wisdom reflected her understanding of both love and resilience, and it served as a guiding principle for those who knew her. Linda lived her life with empathy and grace, instilling compassion, strength, and forgiveness in her children through both her words and her actions.

As we remember Linda Speakman, we honor her tender heart, her enduring love, and the legacy she leaves behind through her children. Her greatest achievement was being a mother—loving Diana and James with her whole heart and shaping them with care, devotion, and unconditional love.

A personal message from her daughter, Diana:

“Mom, your love is still my guide, my comfort, and my strength. I carry you with me in everything I do, and I will spend my life honoring the love you gave us. I love you endlessly.”

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life… nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

— Romans 8:38–39
