Linda's obituary
Linda K. Skipper, 71, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2022 while vacationing in Orlando, FL, her happy place.
Linda was born in 1950 to John D. and Eloise Lewis in Little Rock, AR. She was one of three children. The family ended up in Virginia Beach, VA where she attended and graduated from Cox High School.
In 1967, she met William “Bill” E. Skipper, Jr. The two married, lived in several different places while Bill was in the U.S. Navy, but planted roots and spent most of their life together in Chesapeake, VA. They went on to have 5 children and enjoyed watching their family grow to include many grandchildren. Linda loved her family, and especially enjoyed large dinners surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She always enjoyed her annual family vacations to Florida.
Linda and Bill also created, owned, and operated Skipper Farms together. Linda worked hard, and to those who entered Skipper Farms at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, she was the smiling face of the store. She enjoyed her interactions with customers and getting to know those who came in regularly. She was loved by many in the community.
She is preceded in death by her father J.D. Lewis, her mother Eloise Lewis, and her sister Arlene Lewis.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years William Skipper; daughter Barbara (Brad) Vedros of North, VA; daughter Sandra (Keith) McNally of Suffolk, VA; son William Skipper of Chesapeake, VA; daughter Anna (Jimmy) Henderson of Walkertown, NC; son Andrew Skipper of Chesapeake, VA; and brother Larry (Joette) Lewis of Smyrna, TN, as well as 11 grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life for Linda will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 4832 Haygood Rd, Virginia Beach, VA on February 19th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Linda’s behalf to Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation via her memorial website at everloved.com/memorial/linda-….
