Linda's obituary
Linda Gail Hundevadt Pew joined the spirit world on March 8th, 2024. We believe she was welcomed by many loved ones. Those of us left behind miss her terribly and love her always.
Growing up, Navy life took you from coast to coast. Although you tormented your little sister, Jane, she was your constant. Her revenge was frequently inventive and family lore includes repeated mentions of the Toni doll scandal.
After college and work in DC, fate brought you to Redlands. You met Doug and the Pew clan. Anita Court became the truest sense of home. The world of barbershop gave you international competition and a stage to showcase your talent as a bass.
Summers always meant adventures and hilarity with the Poles, with the Hundevadt swimming pool as the gathering point. Your signature family gathering was the May birthday dinner in the shade of the mulberry tree. Year after year, we ran across the lawn to a feast of angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries.
Another favorite holiday of yours was Halloween, with all of it's drama and mystery. Every decoration and costume was homemade and crafted to spook!
You inspired us to be custodians of nature, having nursed various creatures back to health. Chirpy the mocking bird came back to visit often.
A mess made in the name of creativity was never a problem. A swath of Lego on the garden room floor or a mural painted on our bedroom wall was met with a smile.
Life in the church highlighted many seasons and created connection to spiritual growth and meaningful community. Devotion to family and faith guided your unique path.
In addition to more glamourous travel, you never shied away from being along for the ride. Doug's Quota meetings with Eli Lilly, David's bicycle races, and Laura's trip to Pine Ridge were all opportunities to revel in what the wider world had to offer.
Sculpting in bronze through the lost wax process became your calling in the visual arts. Your uncanny knack for portraiture and love of legendary figures has kept your work a noticeable part of the Redlands cityscape.
In a fabulous and stunning second act, you found your way to the East Coast to live in a meadow with your dear Bob. Singing duets and reading mystery novels were treasured pastimes. A trip to Africa was a favorite to add to an already long list of awe-inspiring travel destinations.
Mumsie/Grumsie/Linds, you have given us so much throughout your 80 years. You brought us music, laughter, and memories of playful celebration. We keep with us your caring love and cherished moments. xo
