Linda's obituary

One of our most beloved and talented artists, a long time member of the San Francisco Street Artist Community, passed away too quickly due to complications from a stroke. Her family, friends, art patrons and those in the Street Artist Community have been in shock at this sudden loss of an exceptional woman.

Linda was born in Salem, Ore. Her parents were James P. Pedersen and Martha Jansen. At an early age, she moved with her mother to Novato, CA and, sadly, lost her mother while still a teenager. She enrolled at the College of Marin in 1965 and graduated with a BA from Sonoma State in 1970.

Linda’s art legacy will be as a painter, jeweler, poet and linocut printer. Some of her early work was with polymer clay which she used to fashion into realistic looking hand dipped chocolate beads which would then become bracelets and necklaces.
Her remarkable limited edition linoleum reduction cut block prints were first drawn on the blocks in reverse then carved out for each color in painstaking detail. Yet, she loved it and, in fact was chosen for the cover of the 2008 Fall/Winter edition of Edible Magazine. Linda was also picked to design the cover of “Untwine the Wind”, a book of poems by Renee Ranchan.
She was also an astute copy editor for 2 published books and a soon to be released project.

Linda entered the San Francisco Street Artist Program in 1978 and for 40 years was a Street Artist. Although she struggled financially, Linda was described by many as “a Giver” and would without question assist her fellow Artists. Linda loved meeting people in person and talking about her art in addition to donating her art work for projects she believed in. Hear a recent interview of Linda at: https://youtu.be/xOSPA1TrL4s

A GoFundMe page has been set up for funeral expenses, a memorial and to bring Linda’s only remaining family, Claudia to San Francisco to handle her affairs.
